Event Recap: Recruitment & Resourcing Networking Event

The R&R network event aims to offer valuable industry insights, knowledge sharing discussions, and think-tanks devoted to recruitment and resourcing within the public sector.

Hosted by Saba/Lumesse in collaboration with WMJobs, the network event provided colleagues with the opportunity to connect and boost opportunities for collaboration. Working with a collective ambition of building a stronger public sector workforce, where peers can listen, learn, discuss and grow.

The engagement among peers that took place stemmed around key themes:

  • Colleagues shared insights on upskilling ‘recruiting skills’
  • ‘Adoption of effective’ sourcing strategies
  • The notion of ‘recruiting like a marketeer’

Tim Jones from Saba/Lumesse also led an insightful discussion, on developing candidate attraction strategies. The key takeaway from the discussion was the need for public sector organisations, to increase pipeline activity for candidates and recognising the importance of identifying the cycles of recruitment beyond the common seasonal periods.

Interesting areas around more collaborative thinking arose concerning topics such as Apprenticeship placements particularly in the hard to fill posts, Social Care recruitment, utilising Talent Pools and Bespoke Selection Processes, sharing data insights into the labour market and share of knowledge & projects to encourage more regional networking. The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be taking place in Birmingham, and among the peers there was a sentiment, that recognised that this will need to be a regional effort to ensure its success.

The highlight of the day came from Sandwell MBC and their session on how to engage with candidates via SMS. Have a read of our customer spotlight on Sandwell’s exciting project.

Over the course of the day, the discussions helped provide WME with valuable insight of what’s important to our regional authorities and their key challenges. This will prove to be valuable towards the future development and planning of resourcing dedicated work and events.

Clients have relayed to us that they found the event to be engaging and it has empowered them to engage more. Don’t just take our word for it, watch video below to see what some of our clients have to say.
